                                                                                                     ‘Microglia: the Little Cell that Could’



Opioids are potent analgesics used for treating pain.  The increasing use of opioids is concerning and has resulted in a striking rise in opioid related deaths.  Chronic opioid use can result in serious side effects that are linked to the activity of microglia, which are immune cells in the central nervous system.  This seminar will focus on novel therapeutic approaches that target microglia to enhance the pain-relieving effects of opioids
