The mission of the program is to excel at research, to innovate in education and to deliver local, national and international leadership in education and research in the Life Sciences.
Graduate students have the opportunity to pursue cutting edge science, present their research at national and international meetings and experience the sense of accomplishment that accompanies successful collaborations with peers across the country or around the world. Students are mentored in the art of science writing by a committed group of faculty supervisors, whose goal is to foster excellence in the publication of independent and original research. Graduate students receive training and experience in the principles of small group learning, as they participate in the undergraduate Life Sciences and medical programs. Graduates of the Physiology Program bring excellence in science and a commitment to society in their leadership roles in research, journalism, law, pharmaceutical sciences and the health care professions, including medicine and dentistry.
