After a century of Erythropoietin research, where exactly do we stand?

Dr. Jeremy Simpson completed his undergraduate degree in Human Biology at the University of Guelph. He then pursued his PhD in Physiology right here at Queen’s University under the supervision of Dr. Steve Iscoe. This was followed by two postdocs: the first with Steve Iscoe and Luis Melo at Queen’s University, the second with Dr. Peter Backx at the University of Toronto.

Dr. Simpson was recruited to the University of Guelph in 2009, and is currently an Associate Professor in Human Health and Nutritional Sciences.

Dr. Simpson was awarded a prestigious New Investigator Award from the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada and has been continuously funded by the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Lung Association, NSERC, CIHR, GlycoNet and others.

His research focuses on endocrine signaling in anemia and hypoxia, the role of the spleen in regulating cardiovascular function, Cardiac and Respiratory physiology.
