Biography

I am a fully trained Cardiac Surgeon with special interest in Clinical and Academic Research. I obtained my MD degree from Mansoura University, Egypt, in 2002. After finishing my Cardiovascular Surgical training in Spain in 2012, I completed advanced sub-specialty fellowship training in mitral surgery, aortic surgery, and multi-arterial off-pump coronary artery bypass surgery in the UK, the USA and Canada.

I received my PhD degree from the University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain in 2009. My PhD Thesis investigated the temporal changes in local inflammatory markers levels that occurred in adult patients undergoing cardiac surgery.

Currently, I am the Founder and Lead Investigator at El-Diasty Cardiac Surgery Research Lab, that was established in January 2021 at Queen’s University. I have supervised more than 50 medical and undergraduate students during their research projects. In addition, I have co-supervised several students during their 499 Research Projects.
