Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to complete the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) Training and the Health and Safety Awareness Training before I can apply to be a course assistant?

You do not have to have these two trainings completed when you apply but you must successfully complete both trainings before classes start for that term.

Do I need to apply separately for each course that I am interested in becoming a course assistant for?

Yes. You are required to complete the application for each individual course that you are applying for.

Can I still apply to be a course assistant after I have graduated or when I am no longer enrolled at Queen’s?

Yes, you may apply.  If you have relevant experience and meet the qualifications, you would be considered an Academic Assistant.

I am a graduate student enrolled at another university.  Do I need to have the permission form signed by my graduate supervisor/academic advisor?

No, this permission form is only required for Queen’s graduate students.  You will be considered an Academic Assistant if you have relevant experience and qualifications.

Will you email me to let me know if my application has been received?

Due to a large number of applications, we do not email candidates to confirm receipt of their application. Once you have completed the application, you will see on the application webpage that your application has been submitted.  You can also download a copy of your responses for your records.

Can I accept course assistant offers for multiple courses?

Yes, you may accept several positions; however, there is a maximum number of hours you can work. The DBMS Undergraduate Program Team tracks this before sending offers to candidates.

Carefully read the eligibility conditions, requirements, and application instructions below before submitting your application.
