Welcome to the Department of Biomedical and Molecular Sciences (DBMS) at Queen’s University. We are committed to the generation and dissemination of knowledge and aim to integrate world leading research with innovative educational programs. Our faculty is diverse, studying everything from the structure and function of proteins, to physiological processes such as reproduction and immune surveillance, to pathologies such as cancer, cardiovascular disease and neurodegenerative disease. In doing so, we provide our trainees with comprehensive education and research experiences---spanning from fundamental biochemical principles to translational patient-oriented research. Our multidisciplinary and collaborative research environment is conducive to unbridled discovery and supports many research leaders.
We take tremendous pride in our educational offerings in the Life Sciences, Biochemistry, Bachelor of Health Sciences, Graduate and Undergraduate Medical Education programs. Our faculty provide instruction in the areas of Anatomy, Cell Biology, Microbiology and Immunology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology and Physiology as well as more specialized topics such as cancer biology, neuroscience and reproductive biology. In addition, through our Anatomical Sciences stream, we are actively involved in pedagogical research which directly improves our educational offerings. We are extremely proud of our contributions to teaching and mentorship with many of our faculty receiving teaching awards and accolades.
