On the recommendation of Dean Jane Philpott, Matthew Evans, Provost and Vice-Principal (Academic) at Queen’s University, has reappointed Dr. Lynne-Marie Postovit as Head, Department of Biomedical and Molecular Sciences, effective July 1, 2024 for a five-year term.
Over the past five years, Dr. Postovit has demonstrated exceptional leadership and mentorship. She has championed interdisciplinary research initiatives such as the Queen’s Discovery Labs and research clusters, is known as a committed and inspiring educator, and has played a key role as member of the School of Medicine’s leadership team.
After earning her PhD in Anatomy and Cell Biology at Queen’s, Dr. Postovit completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at Northwestern University in the Department of Cancer Biology and Epigenomics. Previously she held professorial roles at Western University and University of Alberta, where she co-directed the Cancer Research Institute of Northern Alberta.
As a recognized authority on ovarian cancer, Dr. Postovit is widely published and has presented her work at national and international research institutes and conferences, including the Karolinska Institute in Sweden and the Canadian Cancer Research Conference. She is currently a visiting professor at the University of Belgrade and is a member of the Royal Society of Canada’s College of New Scholars, Artists, and Scientists. Dr. Postovit is a senior editor for eLife and on the editorial board of Cancer and Metastasis Review.
