MICR 483 Advanced Topics in Infectious Disease Fall 2024 (On-Campus), Winter 2025 (Online) Year 4 3 units Available On-Campus Course Online Course MICR 483, Advanced Topics in Infectious Disease, will examine basic principles of infectious diseases, including the epidemiology, pathophysiology, transmission, and control of infectious agents, with an emphasis on antimicrobial therapy and resistance. Selected infectious disease syndromes will be examined to explore unique host microbe interactions. Students will work through the topics online using interactive multimedia modules. Throughout the course modules, students will focus on four major groups of microorganisms – bacteria, parasites, viruses, and fungi. At the completion of the course, students will have an understanding of the key concepts of emerging topics in infectious diseases. *previously BMED 483, Advanced Topics in Infectious Disease Prerequisites Minimum 4th year (Level 4) standing and one of (MICR320/3.0; MICR 270/3.0; MICR 271/3.0; MICR 221/3.0), or permission from the instructor.
