Gross and functional anatomy of the back, body wall, upper and lower limbs, including blood supply and neural controls.

Prerequisites

(BIOL 102/3.0 and BIOL 103/3.0) or (BIOL 201/3.0 and BIOL 202/3.0) or PHED 153/3.0 or KNPE 153/3.0 or permission of the Department of Biomedical and Molecular Sciences.

Exclusions

No more than 3.0 units from ANAT 215/3.0; ANAT 216/3.0.

Learning Outcomes

Can identify and describe the Anatomical Structures of the Back, the Upper and Lower Limbs.
Can understand the physical relationships of each of the Bones, Muscles, Nerves and Vessels in each of the Back, Upper and Lower Limbs.
By knowing the Anatomy, can identify, define and solve problems related to the function of each component, based on the joint actions, the blood supply and particularly the innervation.
Can define, identify and describe the deficits in function when a particular pathway of either (or both) innervation or blood supply is interrupted.
