Biobar/DBMS Supply Centre | Biomedical and Molecular Sciences | School of Medicine

The Department of Biomedical and Molecular Sciences operates a supply center/biobar in Botterell Hall, room 816/819. Please enter through room 819 during the Botterell Hall renovation project. Disposable laboratory supplies and products from a number of Life Science companies are available for sale or order.

To purchase disposable laboratory supplies, you must register with the Department of Biomedical and Molecular Sciences through the biobar coordinator, Xiaohu Yan (telephone 613-533-6000 ext 78265; e-mail yanx@queensu.ca The name of Principal Investigator (PI), department, project code, and a minimum 6 character password are required.

Accounts are charged electronically at regular intervals and a printed transaction statement is mailed to each PI’s Department for distribution.

Purchases for consumables are recorded directly by customers using a computer in the stockroom. The shelf number on a yellow dot under each product provides a unique identifier that can be used to select the desired item from a drop down list.

For your convenience, many items are sold in “break out” quantities with pro-rated prices. Prices are usually stable over the year but can change under certain circumstances.

Biorad, D-Mark Biosciences, Fisher/Fermentas, Lifetechnologies/Invitrogen, Promega, Qiagen and Wisent products are also available. Prices can be referenced on each company’s website and special orders are also welcome. There are no shipping costs for items purchased through the biobar.
